Summer In February Dan Stevens, Dominic Cooper, Emily Browning Despite exiting Downton Abbey in that Christmas Special smash-up, Dan Stevens isn’t ready to shed the Edwardian straitjacket yet. Here he plays a Matthew Crawley-alike army officer running a Cornwall estate that contains a bohemian artist’s colony. Cooper gets the flashy role of party-loving painter Alfred Munnings, leaving Stevens looking like a stick in the mud as they vie for the affections of new arrival Florence (Browning). It all ends in tears but not before some handsome Cornish scenery has passed by. |
